Well, the Swedes are ready for battle! On the right is the Närke-Värmlands regiment and on the left is the Elfsborg regiment. I really like them, I can't wait for more!

No more Swedes today

I had hoped to have the rest of the Swedes done today, but no. Instead here are some pictures from a concert last night. The photos sucks big time, but it is Front 242 and Nitzer Ebb. They were pretty cool, especially Nitzer Ebb who ruled big time!

Swedes

Today Musiketeer Miniatures new Great Northern War Swedes arrived. I got excited and started to paint them right away. The one on the right is from the Närke-Värmlands regemente, while the one on the left is from the Björneborg regemente. I haven't based them yet, but it will be the standard basing that can be seen on other figures.

Repainted shield

Well, I wasn't to happy with the Takabara shields. So after looking at Little Big Men Studios new transfer I got "inspired" to paint mine. Thanks LBMS!

Good new for all you persian lovers out there. Little Big Men Studios has released transfers for Xyston's Persians. There are three different sheets, for guard infantry, for kardake and for takabara.

Persian Guard infantry

Long time since the last up-date. During October I have been painting an Aitolian DBA army and now I have started on a Late Achaemenid Persian DBA army. This is the first two stands, Persian Guard infantry. Don't forget to look at the trousers on the right stand, they were a real pain to paint. The figures are from Xyston.

Alexandrian Macedonian army

Here is my Alexandrian Macedonian army. In the fron we have the ligh troops, Thracians (1xAx, 1xPs) and Greeks (1xAx, 1xPs). Behind them are the phalanx (6xPk), with the Hypaspists to the left. In the center are the Companions (1xKn, 1xCv) and the Prodromoi (1xLH).

This picture is actually old (it's from last weekend), the two Companions are now swapped with a Thessalian cavalry (1xCv) and a nice mounted Makedonian general (with Companions, 1xKn).

Athenian army

This is my Athenian DBA army. In the front we have the Hoplites (8xSp), behind them are the rest (1xCv, 1xLH, 1xAx and 1xPs).

Tuesday, September 05, 2006

Thracian army

Here is my 15mm Xyston Thracian DBA army. It's 1xCv (in the middle), 2xLH (at both sides of the general), 8xAx (everywhere) and 2xPs (in the front, to the left). They are mid 3rd century BC, so some are Hellenised, some are not.

Eagle Knights (Aztec)

Here are my eleven eagle knights. You can spot all of them, can't you?
When will there be some new Normans? Well, it will take some time, first I will need to paint four more Aztecs, then I will paint some Norman cavalry.

Old Friends (Greek)

And now for something very old. These Greek skirmishers are some I painted years ago when I started in this hobby. Originally they were for my Makedonian army, but now after a nice re-basing they are perfect for my late republican Roman army.

Hoplites

I said I was doing some Xyston miniatures in my last post, so here is a picture of the little buggers. Only problem (but not the only one) is that the shields are so big so not much else can be seen in the picture!
Enough with all this nonsense, tomorrow there will be more Normans.

Some words about my different projects

The Normans aren't my only project; I do also have several others going on. My major projects are the Normans (Crusader), Aztecs (TAG and Foundry) and late republic Romans (Companion and Foundry). Soon there will be some based skirmishers for my Roman army, so pictures are coming soon. I do also have some minor projects, the biggest one is my 15mm Hellenistic army (Xyston) of which I have painted very little (51 elements), but I have hundreds unpainted. Other projects are my 3rd century Romans (A&A), Makedonians (Foundry), Trojan War (Foundry), Carthaginians (Renegade), LotR (Games Workshop) and Imperial Guards (Games Workshop). The Makedonians are almost done so not much will happen there (except for re-basing), but much next major project will be the 3rd century Romans, they are looking mighty nice.

Do I have some finished projects? Not really, all projects are on-going, but my Late War WWII Germans (Artizan) are more or less done. My ACW (Renegade and Foundry) are also done.

Any projects I have abandoned? Yes, I have realized that I will never have enough time to paint my Early Imperial Romans (Foundry), so they are a lost project.

Any new projects coming up? I'm easily tempted and Musketeer Miniatures says they will make some Seleukids next year so that sounds very interesting.

That’s all I think, but I have surely forgot to mention a few odd things (like my Eureka Russians or Shadowforge Amazons).

Tlaxcaltecs

Here are three Tlaxcaltec suit-warriors. They were sworn enemies of the Aztecs. The Tlaxcaltecs painted their faces red "which gave them the look of devils".
